ON THE HUNT
PER LE STRADE D'ITALIA ON ITALY'S STREETS • Renowned street photographer Bruce Usher kept a travel diary on his last trip to Italy and these extracts provide some background to his images capturing life on the lively strade of Rome, Bologna, Milan and desitinations beyond.
EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN • Our enduring love of instant film cameras has seen the sector enjoy continuous growth in the digital era and convinced the re-incarnated Polaroid to reprise another old favourite. The new Flip pays homage to arguably the most popular of the vintage Polaroid design, but also delivers the conveniences of contemporary features.

HIGHER RETURNS ON INVESTMENT • The SL3's sportier sibling trades resolution for speed, but this arguably makes it the more versatile camera and it's a whole lot more affordable too.

THE CAMERA THAT CHANGED THE WORLD 100 YEARS OF LEICA CAMERAS • Photography was revolutionised after the appearance – at the 1925 Leipzig Spring Fair in Germany – of the Leitz Kleinfilmkamera, a.k.a. the first Leica camera to go into commercial production. This small camera was the start of something bigger than its creators could ever have imagined.
A CLASS ABOVE • This could well be the 40 megapixels X mount camera body you've been waiting for. It's smaller than the X-T50 or X-T5 and, unlike the X-M5, it has an EVF. On balance the X-E5 is essentially an X100VI with interchangeable lenses (it even looks very similar)… so it ticks a whole lot of boxes.

YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! • It's a retro-styled fixed-lens compact camera, but not like anything that we've ever seen before. The X Half is not only a half frame camera – well, sort of – you can use it just like a film camera, but still with the conveniences of digital capture. It's clever all right, but does it really work?

HASSELBLAD XPAN • These are the cameras that, in one way or another, had a significant influence on photographers and photography. The XPan didn't change the world, but it changed the way we saw the world and is still a highly sought-after cult camera to this day.
A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY • The updates are small, but all significant enough to make the Mark II OM-5 a much more attractive proposition, especially given its compactness and affordability. And there's a smart new ‘outdoorsy’ colour option too.
